Holland Steel Bullnose Plane

A cast steel bullnose plane by John Holland of London. Working just down the street from Thomas Norris in York Rd., Lambeth, Holland borrowed heavily from Norris’s designs – especially when it came to bullnose and shoulder planes. Not surprisingly these designs became known as “London Pattern” infill planes.

This particular bullnose plane measures approximately 3-3/4″ long and is 1″ wide. It should be noted that the cutting iron on planes of these type (bullnose, shoulder and rabbet planes) typically are fractionally wider than the width of the planes themselves.

The rear infill and wedge are made from Brazilian rosewood.
