Bullnose Rabbet Plane By David Lyon Of London

David Lyon was a small-time maker/dealer of infill planes who was based at 43 St John Square in Clerkenwell, London from between 1873 and 1877. The plane is of annealed iron construction and the wedge and infill are made of mahogany. The body is 3-3/4″ long and 1″ wide, and the shape is of a traditional style.

To my knowledge not much is known about D. Lyon and his hand planes. I’m not aware if he ever made bench planes as I’ve only ever seen his bullnose and shoulder planes. They’re not common at all, and most of the planes that are around have been bullnose planes.
